Our History

We have been the most trusted diet manual for 37 years, and we are proud of our rich history of providing evidence-based nutrition resources for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists. The American Dietetic Association published the first edition of the Handbook of Clinical Dietetics in 1981. This essential practice resource and diet manual later became the Manual of Clinical Dietetics and was published for 6 editions and over 20 years. The Pediatric Manual of Clinical Dietetics was introduced as the premier resource and diet manual for pediatric nutrition in 1998. After nearly 20 years as a printed resources, the printed diet manuals were transitioned to web format, and the first editions of the Nutrition Care Manual® and Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual® were born! The Sports Nutrition Care Manual® was added to the series as a cutting-edge resource for sports dietitians in 2011.
