The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Clinical Content Strategy (CCS) team is soliciting candidates for the Editor in Chief (EIC): Education position of the Nutrition Care Manual® (NCM®) Suite consisting of the adult Nutrition Care Manual® (NCM®), Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual®(PNCM®), and Sports Nutrition Care Manual® (SNCM®). This is a paid position with contract continually renewed for subsequent one-year terms, for up to five years beginning June 1st, 2023. The weekly time commitment ranges from 2 to 4 hours. A description of the job follows:
EIC: Education duties:
- Serve as education chair of the NCM®, PNCM®, and SNCM® Board of Editors
- Work in tandem with existing EICs (NCM®, NCM® Client Education, NCM® Diet Manual, PNCM®, and SNCM®); however, EIC: Education is independently responsible for the duties listed here and reports directly to the CCS team
- Identify opportunities for education-related content within NCM® Suite such as case studies, educator guides, toolkits, etc., while mindful that the UX is for an online product and utilizing digital classroom tools and concepts
- Assist in identification of qualified authors and reviewers as needed
- Evaluate peer review feedback and provide clear guidance for authors
- Review education-related content for accuracy, consistent coverage, tone, and clarity
- Issue final approval on all new education-related content
- Assist with the creation of education-related content as needed
- Contribute to strategic education plans for future updates of NCM® Suite
- Identify areas for product improvement, based on feedback, knowledge of the field, and metrics provided by Academy staff
- Participate in quarterly calls with Academy staff to discuss product-related topics as needed
- Participate in biannual virtual meetings with Board of Editors
Expertise required:
- Registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) with minimum of 8 years of experience in practice and/or research
- Advanced degree (masters, PhD)
- Experience in dietetics education: teaching dietetics courses, developing curriculum, and advising dietetics students
- Broad experience in major nutrition topic areas
- Knowledge of NCM® usage in practice
- Strong communication and relationship skills
- Knowledge of tenets of cultural competency
- Proficiency in MS Office and software programs
- Previous experience writing or reviewing peer-reviewed publications
- Use/familiarity with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library and Nutrition Care Process
